Hi! & welcome back to the newsletter. I’m writing to you on a spectacular Sunday afternoon. There’s not a cloud in the sky and the air is chilly and fresh. We spent a slow morning enjoying coffee at home in our robes & then went on a long walk. We are about to head out to lunch (Doma, our fav) but I wanted to get this out before we go. After weeks and weeks of business and movement, it feels good to stay put & enjoy a weekend at home with no plans but to spend time with Blake. Okay, let’s rewind to Friday, ‘shall we?
I kicked off Friday with a coffee with Kate followed up by a morning of groceries & perusing. I stopped by POSH for a gift, Eataly for Friday’s dinner, and Trader’s for florals. I spent the afternoon relaxing — I read, sauna-ed, baked sourdough, and walked by the lake. Blake got home and we prepped dinner together! We had ribeye (Snake River Wagyu from Eataly, I am obsessed), zucchini, & roasted potatoes. It was a great meal! Saturday morn, I woke up to Blake holding a cold brew from La Colombe… a true gem. We went for a long walk, refreshed our space, and had a movie night in (we may or may not have indulged in The Family Stone…) No one asked, but yes, I will be decorating in the next couple of weeks (I am many things, but I’m not an after Thanksgiving decorator).
As the temperatures get colder, it can become easy to default to dreading the tundra that can be winter in the midwest or northeast. This year, I ask you to approach it differently and lean into the season of coziness.
CURRENTLY LOVING
Evolve Together Body Cleanser — I love all of their products, but this body cleanser is extra special. It’s luxurious, moisturizing, and overall divine. It’s somehow milky and foamy at the same time, and as we head into the drier seasons, this body wash will be the ticket to keeping my skin soft and dewey.
Toteme Cardi Coat (or something similar) — I snagged this wrap coat in charcoal last year and it’s been one of my favorite purchases… ever. Not only is it uber cozy and warm, but it’s extremely versatile — I find myself wearing it from morning coffee runs in my jammies to with boots and jeans out do dinner. I absolutely love my Lauren Manoogian ones too, but something about the structure and fabric makeup of the Toteme one makes it much more elevated and versatile!
Higher Dose Sauna Blanket — BRB, I’ll be in this all winter long! If you’re also city living and don’t have room for a sauna ATM, I highly recommend this baby. I was hesitant - it’s usually pretty hard for me to get a good sweat - but this actually works!
Nette Another Life Candle — My favorite cozy season candle. My dear friend Deb gifted me this last year, and I’ve been hooked since. It’s definitely on the sweeter side, but it has an amazing depth and it really fills a space with not only a scent but a vibe, a very cozy one that is. I burn this every morning with the windows open as I make my lemon water & listen to hz — it’s a great start to the day.
RECIPE
I am not a huge cake girl, but I love anything chewy or fudgy. I was craving the latter on Friday night so I whipped up these pistachio tahini chocolate fudge bars. The recipe was simple (a theme lately) and pretty clean. They turned out divine — the perfect cure for your post dinner sweet tooth!
WELLNESS HACK
Simple is best. Take this as a reminder to cut out the BS and simplify your life. A few ways I’ve been living simply lately:
Simple outfits — jeans and a sweater or monochromatic cozies
Simple mornings — light, movement, hydration
Simple dinners — a protein, a starch, and a veg
& cutting down the excess. Embracing slowness, close friendships, intentional purchases, thoughtful actions, and being at home. The good life!
READING
I just started HP #5 so we are taking a brief intermission from my pilgrimage (‘till next week) and moving onto some morning reading. One of my dear girlfriends got me into this version of a Course in Miracles and I am absolutely loving it. I love The Course — it’s quickly become a foundational part of my mornings. But, it’s a lot to process. This guidebook makes it a bit more digestible!
THAT'S ALL FOR THIS TIME...
